The increase in air traffic noise that area residents have been experiencing for nearly two months is over, officials with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport say.

One of DFW's runways — its western-most north/south runway known as the 18R/36L — was partially closed in August for pavement maintenance, which had been forcing the airport to make use of diagonal runways (typically used only for landings) for flight departures over Southlake and the western portion of Grapevine.

Construction on the runway finished up this week, and flight patterns have returned to normal. Residents with specific questions about flight noise may call the airport's noise hotline at 972-973-3192.
