Among the issues the Oak Ridge North City Council will address at tonight's 7 p.m. council meeting include rewriting city parking ordinances, the purchase of 1,250 new garbage containers and the city's stance regarding multiple transit-related projects in the area.

City Manager Vicky Rudy said the reinforcement and clarification of parking ordinances has to do with longterm parking of large vehicles such as trailers and trucks.

She said parking of large vehicles on some streets has caused safety and visibility issues.

"We want to outlaw (longterm parking) of those (vehicles) except for loading and unloading purposes," she said.

In accordance with the city's new waste sanitation plan approved at the Aug. 27 meeting, and in partnership with Waste Management, the city will purchase 1,250 new 96-gallon waste receptacles for its residents from Toter, Inc. through the Houston-Galveston Area Council, at a total cost of $60,980.

A new transit flyover has been proposed by The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce's mobility committee, linking I-45 and Research Forest Drive, a project Rudy said the council may or may not oppose depending on how it will effect residents, businesses and traffic matters in the area. At its Aug. 22 meeting, the City of Shenandoah passed a resolution opposing the same flyover project.

In addition, the council will vote on a resolution supporting or opposing the City of Conroe and The Woodlands Township being named dual recipients of federal transportation money.
