Despite lifting the burn ban, Williamson County officials are urging residents to refrain from any outdoor burning this weekend as weather conditions could cause fires to burn out of control.
Wind gusts of more than 20 mph, humidity levels less than 25 percent and low fuel moisture could develop during the next 48–72 hours, conditions that trigger Red Flag Warnings for dangerous burning. If residents do use outdoor fires, the county encourages them to take the following precautions:
Report fires immediately
Do not improperly discard smoking materials while on the road or at home
Avoid parking your vehicle in grassy areas—the exhaust system may ignite a fire
Allow coals or embers to cool completely prior to removal from a grill
Use a spotter when welding or performing other activities that may ignite a fire
