Austin restaurateur Kevin Williamson, Asleep at the Wheel lead singer Ray Benson and entrepreneur Matt Luckie opened Rattle Inn at 610 Nueces St. on Jan. 23.

To celebrate the opening of the West Sixth Street honky tonk, the opening party crowd enjoyed a performance by Asleep at the Wheel.

"The Rattle Inn completes a long-held dream of mine to make the block of Nueces Street from Sixth to Seventh [streets] an Austin destination," Williamson said. "Locals and those visiting Austin can dine at Ranch 616, have happy hour at Star Bar and hear music at the Rattle Inn without leaving the block."

Rattle Inn is also home to Ray's Backstage, a small concert venue located on the first floor of the bar.

"I'm really excited to be involved with a venue that highlights Texas music," Benson said. "I hope Ray's Backstage will be a place where musicians come to relax, play music, and have fun. I'm also happy about having a home to display the 40 years worth of music memorabilia I've collected."

Rattle Inn offers a list of signature drinks that includes some of Ranch 616's popular beverages, including Ranch Water, the Lady Bird Shot and the Texas Heat.
