The Avenue Church relocates to Splendora ahead of new building construction in New Caney

The Avenue Church, which has held services in New Caney for the past eight years, moved to a new location in Splendora Jan. 18.

What's changing?

Led by husband and wife pastors Dave and Tara DiFrancesca, The Avenue Church first began holding services at Tavola Elementary School before moving to Speedsportz Racing Park during the COVID-19 pandemic, where they have remained over the past five years.

In December, the church purchased land off Hwy. 59 between Roman Forest and Hwy. 242, where they plan to construct a new building, Tara DiFrancesca confirmed via email Jan. 22. In the meantime, the church relocated to Splendora where they can be more permanently set up until they move into their new building in the future.

Beginning Jan. 18, The Avenue Church is now holding services in Splendora at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. every Sunday. Additionally, the church offers a Sunday service for kids, a youth group that meets on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., and small groups.

"We are a non-denominational church that has created a welcoming space that is for everyone," Tara DiFrancesca said via email. "We want people to find meaning[ful] relationships, while also growing in their faith."

Tara DiFrancesca noted the church would be celebrating its eighth anniversary on Feb. 1.
