The background
The Interfaith Child Development Center was one of the first programs developed after Interfaith was formed in 1973 to serve South Montgomery County.
"Every program was built out of community need in a new community where a need was identified," President and CEO Missy Herndon said. "ICDC was started by a group of moms who wanted an early childhood education program, and when they could not get the land that they wanted to build that space, they took their babies and they did a sit-in over at the development company."
After a few hours, the space was provided and after some time at the Interfaith building at 4242 Interfaith Way, the center is now at 5630 Rush Haven Drive in The Woodlands.
What they offer
Registration takes place in February of each year for ICDC, according to information from its website. Priority registration is given to currently enrolled students and their siblings before registration opens to the public at the end of the month.
Extracurricular activities offered at the facility include a science lab, Outdoor Nature Classroom, Spanish and movement education as well as music and dance, according to information from ICDC and Interfaith of The Woodlands. The center serves approximately 400 students.
A $10,000 donation from the Parents Club presented at the event will go toward a playground being built at the facility as part of the Discovery Garden.
