Q&A: Meet the candidates running for Roman Forest City Council Position 1

Why are you running for this position?

I’ve served Roman Forest for 10 years, and I want to continue that service. With the growth and changes happening around us, I believe experience and continuity are important. I want to help guide that growth responsibly while keeping Roman Forest the kind of community our residents chose to call home.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

Public safety, responsible spending, infrastructure and managing growth. I want to make sure we take care of the city we already have while planning for what’s coming. That means supporting our police, addressing roads and drainage, enforcing our ordinances fairly and making responsible decisions with taxpayers’ money.

What measures, if any, need to be taken to address the city’s fast-growing population?

We need to stay ahead of growth instead of reacting to it after problems develop. That means planning for roads, drainage, public safety and other city services before they become overwhelmed. Growth is coming to our area, but we can manage it responsibly while protecting the character of Roman Forest.

What are the biggest issues Roman Forest is currently facing?

Growth is probably our biggest challenge because it affects almost everything else—roads, drainage, public safety, city services and our budget. We need to meet those challenges without losing what makes Roman Forest special. That requires planning ahead, spending responsibly and listening to the people who live here.

What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

I have 10 years of experience serving on the Roman Forest City Council, including as Mayor Pro Tem. I know how our city operates, I know its history, and I understand the issues we face. That experience allows me to step into Position 1 ready to serve from day one.

Why are you running for this position?

Our community is experiencing significant change and growth, bringing new opportunities as well as real challenges. I’m running because our voters deserve leadership that approaches these issues with fresh eyes, open minds, and a commitment to listening. I want to help protect what makes our community special while moving it confidently forward.

What would your top priorities be if elected?

My priorities would be responsible growth, infrastructure, and quality of life. I’ll work with our community and partners across the county and state to identify grants, funding opportunities, and shared resources for road and drainage improvements, expanded green space, and better parks, delivering results while being good stewards of taxpayer dollars.

What measures, if any, need to be taken to address the city's fast-growing population?

Growth is not going to stop, nor should it. Our focus should be making growth work for the residents who already call this community home. That means stronger relationships with developers, thoughtful planning, and ensuring new development contributes to roads, drainage, parks, and other improvements that enhance our community.

What are the biggest issues Roman Forest is currently facing?

As a small community with a limited tax base, Roman Forest must be strategic about how we fund improvements and amenities. Our opportunity is to build stronger relationships with developers, neighboring communities, and county and state partners, creating opportunities to leverage outside resources and ensure growth helps strengthen our community.

What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?

My strong community ties and experience building relationships are key strengths. Through my business, nonprofit board service, volunteerism, and fund development work, I’ve built a broad network of individuals and organizations. I bring that experience, along with fresh ideas and new perspectives, to help our community find solutions and opportunities.
