McKenna Foundation posts 2023 records in event center use, donations

Operated by the McKenna Foundation, the McKenna Events Center rents its event rooms and spaces “exclusively for use by nonprofit organizations, civic groups, local schools and churches to benefit the residents of New Braunfels and Comal County,” according to the organization’s website. The McKenna Foundation recently announced that the McKenna Events Center was quite active in 2023, hosting 960 events—including meetings, job fairs, educational workshops and more—resulting in a more than 30% increase over 2022.

The gist

On top of that, $330,000 in room rental costs were donated. Various fundraising events from the McKenna Foundation’s partners raised $1.5 million for the greater New Braunfels area, according to a news release. There were 166 organizations impacted by the event center, up 27.7% from 2022.

The McKenna Children’s Museum also showed growth in attendance with more than 123,000 admissions in 2023.

"Our partner organizations know we are an accommodating meeting resource where people come to learn, share and grow,” said Lindsay Morgan, the event center’s manager. “ We are proud to include community convening in the McKenna Foundation body of work."
