At a virtual board meeting held May 18, the New Braunfels ISD board of trustees announced plans to hold an in-person graduation ceremony June 5 at 8 p.m. at the New Braunfels High School stadium.
The decision comes after Gov. Greg Abbott announced that Texas school districts may hold outdoor graduation ceremonies beginning June 1.
Guidelines released by the Texas Education Agency require districts to continue to enforce social distancing measures among those in attendance by limiting the number of guests and staff in attendance and keeping 6 feet or more of space between participants.
According to Superintendent Randy Moczygemba, each graduate will be allowed three guest tickets and one car pass per family due to limited space at NBHS and efforts to adhere to TEA guidelines.
