McKinney council annexes, zones 2 properties

Directly north of the property is a planned development district zoned for commercial and multifamily development.

The second request deals with about 18.6 acres of land located between Spur 195 and SH 5. The land is also undeveloped and surrounded by undeveloped land on all sides, according to a city document.

The details

Both properties were subject to pre-annexation agreements that were signed in 2015, planning manager Caitlyn Strickland said. The agreements allowed for voluntary annexation after 10 years, according to city documents.

After the council's action, both properties are zoned for rural and agricultural uses. Any future development plans would require the land to be rezoned.

Annexation of either property is not expected to have a significant financial impact to the city, according to city documents. Both properties will be eligible for municipal services such as police and fire protection, solid waste collection and water services.
