As McKinney's population continues to grow, so does the need for more fire stations. The McKinney Fire Department held a ground breaking ceremony for Fire Station No. 10 on Jan. 18. Station No. 10 will be located in the Trinity Falls community.
When construction on the station is complete in spring 2020, the department will have added two new stations in two years.
McKinney Fire Station No. 9, located at 4900 Summit View Drive, opened in 2018 and was the first new fire station in seven years.
“The city of McKinney is growing very quickly, and so is the McKinney Fire Department,” Fire Chief Daniel Kistner said in a news release. “The design of Station [No.] 10 came with a lot of important input from our firefighters.”
Station No. 10, which is designed after Station No. 9, will be a 16,000-square-foot facility and accommodate up to 10 firefighters. The station will also be home to an ambulance, medical unit and a community room.
