The TOMAGWA HealthCare Ministries board of directors appointed Timika Simmons as interim CEO on March 4, effective immediately, according to a March 4 news release. Simmons succeeds Lee Ann Kroon, who served as executive director since June 2016.

"I consider TOMAG[W]A to be a ministry of humanity," Simmons said in the release. "With both passion and humility alongside my fellow staff and volunteers, I step into this role with a great sense of urgency to set TOMAGWA on a long-term path to success."

Simmons joined the TOMAGWA board in 2013, according to the release. Her previous health care experience includes opening Park Manor Skilled Nursing Facility in Tomball and working in health care administration for 20 years, including at the former Tomball Regional Medical Center and the Houston Methodist Hospital System, according to the release.

TOMAGWA has offered health care services to uninsured, low-income families and individuals in northwest Harris, Montgomery and Waller counties for 30 years. The nonprofit organization serves more than 3,100 individual patients and provides more than 22,500 patient encounters annually, according to the release.
