Interfaith Child Development Center, located at 5630 Rush Haven Drive, The Woodlands, announced the launch of a new Transition to Kindergarten Program in late February. The program is geared toward children who miss the Sept. 1 cutoff date to enter kindergarten, or for children of kindergarten age who would benefit from an additional year before starting kindergarten.

“We are very excited to start this new program at ICDC for the 2018-19 school year,” Martha Klie, director of school at ICDC, said in a statement. “Our goal at ICDC is to provide children with an additional year of learning and growth before transitioning to a new school in a much larger environment.”

The course will focus on reading, math skills and independent writing and shift to kindergarten skills for the second semester. According to ICDC the program’s teacher is TSR certified, trained in all curriculum enhancements and receives professional development from Sam Houston State University.

“All of Interfaith’s programs are built out of community need," Missy Herndon, president and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands, said in a statement. "This expansion of ICDC's program meets that need experienced by families while enriching the lives of the children in our wonderful community."

The program will follow Conroe ISD’s calendar, running from August through May, and will meet from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. 281-292-3617. www.interfaithkids.org
