After approving a contract with Barr Co. in December, Buda is welcoming the company’s arrival to finish the overhaul of City Park, 204 San Antonio St., Buda, in late February. The city has already started initial construction on the park, plans for which include new restrooms, an amphitheater, more parking, and two playgrounds for different ages separated by a splash pad and water playground. Parks and Recreation Director Greg Olmer told City Council on Feb. 19 that Buda anticipates completion of renovations in early 2020 and plans to kick off the opening of the park with next year’s Weiner Dog Races, which have been temporarily moved to Buck’s Backyard. The project is funded by the Proposition 5 bond approved by voters in 2014. 512-523-1081.
