Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve the preliminary designs for a new senior assisted-living center at 401 Philomena Drive on Tuesday. According to William Davies, president of DFD Architects Inc., the 65,000-square-foot, single-story facility will have approximately 86 studio as well as one- and two-bedroom units. Journeyman Group Developer Patrick Riordan said if all goes to plan over the next three months, the permits are approved and the land is purchased, construction will begin in May and last for 12 months. The property is at the corner of Philomena Drive and Bluestem Street, between both entrances of the Prairie on the Creek subdivision and across from undeveloped farmland facing I-35.
