Leander’s first Chick-fil-A opened May 15 at 1205 S. US 183, Leander. The grand opening event featured the fast-food chicken restaurant’s First 100 Campout event, during which 100 customers received free Chick-fil-A food for a year.

The opening day has been very busy, according to Rachel Birkhead, marketing director for the Leander and Cedar Park Chick-fil-A locations. She said the restaurant saw 1,600 transactions between 6 a.m. and noon.

“People who live in Leander and Liberty Hill don’t have to drive all the way to Cedar Park now, so that’s nice,” Birkhead said. “They’re very excited to have their own.”

Birkhead said the Leander Chick-fil-A has brought about 110 jobs to the city. The location is the 2,436th Chick-fil-A in the nation. It features two drive-thru lanes that funnel into one and can handle 200 cars per hour, according to a press release from the company. The 5,080-square-foot restaurant seats 114 people inside and 30 outside.
