The City of Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department received the Gold Medal Award for cities with populations between 50,001 and 100,000 from the Texas Recreation and Park Society in March. The award honors departments for excellence in recreation and park management.

From 2014-16 the Georgetown organization has worked on several projects including the Williams Drive Pool and San Jose Splash Pad as well as currently developing Garey Park on 525 acres of donated parkland. www.parks.georgetown.org
