The Sheraton Austin Georgetown Hotel & Conference Center, located at 1101 Woodlawn Ave., Georgetown, received a LEED Silver rating for new construction from the U.S. Green Building Council, according to an announcement earlier this month.

The 222-room hotel is the first Sheraton hotel in the continental U.S. to receive the rating, according to Sheraton. The hotel’s environmentally conscious practices include using the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star Portfolio Manager to track energy and water consumption as well as planning in 2019 to eliminate the use of plastic straws at the hotel’s food and drink outlets.
