Orthodox church breaks ground in North Austin

Saint Elias Orthodox Church celebrated the groundbreaking of its North campus at 15519 N. FM 1325 Austin, on Jan. 5.


About 150 congregants and guests gathered for a service led by Bishop Basil of the Diocese of Wichita and Mid-America alongside The Very Reverend David Barr and other local Orthodox clergy. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2019.


It is the second location for the Orthodox Christian church, which will continue to operate at its original location in downtown Austin. 512-476-2314. www.sainteliaschurch.org
