City launches Bee Safe in Bee Cave campaign; distributes PPE to residents

In a newly launched campaign, the city of Bee Cave is encouraging its residents and visitors to “Don’t Ask. Mask,” as the coronavirus pandemic continues in Central Texas.

Bee Cave launched its Bee Safe in Bee Cave campaign in mid-October to help stop the spread of the coronavirus within the community. Ahead of early voting for the Nov. 3 general election, city staff distributed more than 750 face masks and 250 hand sanitizer kits to residents voting at City Hall, according to a press release from the city.

Home to shopping centers such as the Hill Country Galleria and nearby Shops at the Galleria, Bee Cave has hundreds of businesses, many of which patrons will visit heading into the holiday season. City officials are encouraging residents to support those retailers while practicing caution.

“The Bee Safe in Bee Cave initiative aims to continue to raise awareness of the interplay between public health measures and the success of our businesses,” City Manager Clint Garza said.

Bee Cave will coordinate with local nonprofit organizations to distribute an additional 5,000 reusable face masks and 3,000 sanitizer kits to residents and local business owners.

The personal protective equipment will be available at Bee Cave City Hall, the Bee Cave Public Library, Bee Cave Police Department, City Council meetings and at the Lone Star Farmer’s Market held every Sunday at the Hill Country Galleria.

In addition to the PPE distribution, the city launched a COVID-19-focused website in the spring. The website, BeeCaveCares.org serves as a source for local coronavirus data, mental health resources and more.
