Two candidates will be on the ballot for the Place 6 Eanes ISD board of trustees seat in the upcoming election.

Running for Place 6 are incumbent Heather Sheffield and Catherine Walker.
EISD trustees are elected at-large, meaning all registered voters living within EISD boundaries can vote for each place on the ballot, as trustees represent the entire district instead of a portion of the district.
Voter deadline registration is April 3. Early voting will be held April 22-29, and election day is May 3.

What motivated you to run for this position?
Since 2019, I have been dedicated to keeping Eanes ISD strong, now and for the future. In these challenging financial times, we need experienced trustees who understand our budget, facilities, programs, community, and school finance. I have that experience and remain committed to ensuring the best outcomes for all students.
If elected, what will be your top priorities to address district challenges?
My top priorities include enhancing safety and security, strengthening special education, modernizing facilities, improving compensation for teachers and staff, and preserving programs that drive student success. I have dedicated years to advancing these critical areas within our district, and my commitment to ensuring continued progress remains unwavering.
If elected, what new district projects or policies would you like to see implemented?
During my tenure on the board, Eanes ISD has achieved unprecedented success, ranking #1 in Texas. To maintain our reputation, deliver exceptional education, and build upon our strong foundation while keeping the lowest tax rate in Central Texas, we need proven leadership. I have the knowledge and experience to lead.
What motivated you to run for this position?
As a parent, I want every child in Eanes ISD to thrive. But with a $7M deficit, declining enrollment, and rising costs, our district is at a crossroads. I’m running to bring financial stability, transparency, and smart planning so we can attract teachers, support students, and build a stronger future.
If elected, what will be your top priorities to address district challenges?
Strengthen Financial Health – Implement accurate budgeting, reduce waste, and allocate funds effectively to support students and teachers. Enhance Transparency & Collaboration – Improve financial reporting, engage parents and taxpayers, and ensure informed decision-making. Restore Academic Excellence – Focus on curriculum innovation, recruiting top teachers, and reversing declines in test scores, SAT’s, and rankings.
If elected, what new district projects or policies would you like to see implemented?
Update Forecasting Models – Improve financial predictability based on realistic assumptions and projections, avoiding wild forecasting swings. Reform Teacher Compensation – Offer competitive salaries and performance-based incentives to retain top educators. Curb Excess Spending – Streamline vendor contracts, reduce administrative costs, and eliminate inefficiencies to maximize resources.
