New single-family housing development coming to West Lake Hills

A new residential housing development is coming to West Lake Hills following unanimous passage by city officials at their Oct. 27 board of adjustment meeting.

Located at 0 Wild Cat Hollow, the Wildcat Club Subdivision consists of six single-family residential lots and two open space lots totaling 12.31 acres, according to city documents.

The subdivision will be located on a previously undeveloped piece of land west of West Lake Drive, according to city documents. The documents indicated a preliminary plat of land for the project was approved in September by the city, and the Oct. 27 hearing finalized that decision. The city also previously approved a variance in March allowing the use of a private road for development, rather than a public road, city documents said.

Hoping to break ground at the beginning of 2022, owner of construction company FourSquare Wes Wigginton said the project will take a few years to complete following an initial 90 days to build roads and establish utilities in the area.

“As you can imagine building homes in this market is taking a little longer than we wanted to take,” Wigginton said. “It takes 24 months to build a custom home of reasonable size these days, and we want to try to make the process as short as possible.”

Wildcat Hollow has two main entrances at Terrace Mountain Drive and Redbud Trail, with a short stretch of road off Terrace Mountain leading northwest into a dead end, Wigginton said. The location of the subdivision is on that dead-end stretch, which Wigginton said FourSquare has petitioned with the city and postal service to have it renamed Wildcat Trail to avoid confusion with the rest of Wildcat Hollow.

This stretch of road receives no through traffic, so the project would not have an impact on local transportation, Wigginton said
