Sean Hicks, newcomer Shannon Dubberly sworn in to Keller City Council

Shannon Dubberly was officially sworn in as the new Keller City Council member for Place 1 at a special meeting May 12.

Dubberly won the May 1 election with nearly 53% of the vote over incumbent Mitch Holmes.

Keller Mayor Pro Tem Sean Hicks, who retained his Place 2 seat in the May 1 election, was also sworn in May 12 for another term.

Dubberly is an IT manager in oil and construction operations. In his candidate Q&A with Community Impact Newspaper, he said his top three priorities as council member are making thoughtful and focused decisions about development as Keller nears build-out, protecting and increasing the homestead exemption, and strengthening Keller's roadways and trails.

Hicks was elected to the Keller City Council in 2018. He previously served two terms on the Keller Economic Development Board as well as on the Keller Parks & Recreation Board and on several bond committees in Bedford. Hicks named tax relief and investing in parks and trails as priorities in his candidate Q&A.

Keller City Council canvassed the votes cast in the May 1 election at the same meeting, making the results official.
