Keller City Council tables vote on Heritage Grove development

Keller officials tabled a zoning-change request for an eight-lot subdivision in the city.

The Keller City Council took up the change at its meeting March 18 and decided to table the item until April 1. The applicant behind the project, which would be called Heritage Grove if approved, requested the item be tabled so they and their team could present their case to council in person.

The details

The land that Heritage Grove would sit on is currently zoned for lots of 36,000 square feet and larger. William Solomon of Suma Monde Kaptial Partners requested a zoning change to develop eight homes on lots 30,000 square feet or bigger.

Solomon also requested a future land use plan amendment to change the land use from low-density single family to medium-density single family. If the changes are approved, the homes could sell for upward of $2 million, Solomon said.

Residents have turned out to city meetings to oppose this project, citing concerns over lot sizes and existing storm drainage issues in the area.

How we got here

Keller’s Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the zoning change in a 4-3 vote at its meeting Feb. 25. The commission unanimously recommended approval of the future land use plan amendment.
