Parents, students and district staff will see a new face leading Katy ISD and assisting Superintendent Ken Gregorski.
KISD board of trustees unanimously approved Leslie Haack as the district’s new deputy superintendent at the April 22 meeting. The position was formerly held by Gregorski, and he was the district's first deputy superintendent.
“She has a proven track record of leadership at several levels from principal up through the central office,” Gregorski said in an interview. “I know she’ll do great things.”
As deputy superintendent, Haack will oversee school leadership and support services, operations, and athletics, according to a KISD press release. She previously worked at the district from 1998-2008. She was a teacher and assistant coach at Taylor High School and at Cinco Ranch High School, where she was also an assistant and associate principal.
Most recently, Haack was the deputy superintendent of support services at Lamar CISD, where she oversaw the departments of maintenance and operations, facilities and planning, child nutrition, technology, and transportation, according to a
April 23, 2018, press release from LCISD. She was the first person to hold the position.
Haack spent nine years at LCISD,
according to her LinkedIn profile. Two other positions she held there were executive director of secondary education and principal of George Ranch High School, per the LCISD release and her LinkedIn profile. She was also a principal at Sealy High School in Sealy ISD.
When Gregorksi was appointed to KISD deputy superintendent in December 2016, the job entailed working as the head liaison between several different campuses and departments as well as serving as the district’s chief administrator when the superintendent was absent.
Gregorski’s starting annual salary as deputy superintendent was $212,000.
Community Impact Newspaper reached out for Haack’s starting annual salary, but KISD did not immediately respond.
