Three newcomers will join Katy City Council with the previous City Council members terming out ahead of the May 2 election.
On the ballot
Unofficial results show Johnston Dietz has claimed the Katy City Council Ward A seat with 316 votes, followed by J.R. Richardson with 197 votes.
Meanwhile, Michael Meihls will take the Ward B seat with 429 votes, followed by Lyn Hunter Sullivan with 262 votes.
Additionally, Paul Follis will serve as an At-Large representative with 1,034 votes followed by AJ Bailey with 249 votes.
Results remain unofficial until canvassed at a later date.

Early voting totals from the May 2 election are in for three Katy City Council races.
What residents need to know
Early voting totals from Katy ISD show Johnston Dietz is leading the Katy City Council Ward A race with 230 votes, followed by J.R. Richardson with 129 votes. The position was previously held by Janet Corte, who is not seeking re-election due to term limits.
Meanwhile, Michael Meihls leads the Ward B race with 298 votes, followed by Lyn Hunter Sullivan with 168 votes. The position was previously held by Rory Robertson, who is not seeking re-election due to term limits.
Additionally, Paul Follis has taken the lead in the City Council At-Large race with 741 votes, followed by AJ Bailey with 140 votes. The position was previously held by Mayor Pro Tem Chris Harris, who is not seeking re-election due to term limits.
About the candidates
Dietz works as a operations manager, while Richardson serves as a senior channel partner manager.
Payne is an information technology associate manager and Sullivan is an entrepreneur, while Meihls is a business owner.
Additionally, Follis is a retired law enforcement professional, while Bailey serves as a community outreach coordinator and MPA student.
