The latest Sept. 1 update from the Texas Department of Transportation shows a project is finally getting underway on FM 1488 to add a raised median while two other widening projects closer to Magnolia continue.

1. FM 1488 widening

Project: TxDOT is widening FM 1488 to four lanes with a continuous left-turn lane from FM 1774 to west of FM 149 in Magnolia.

Update: The project was 30% complete as of a Sept. 1 update, the latest available from TxDOT.

2. FM 1488 widening west of Magnolia

Project: A TxDOT project is underway to widen FM 1488 to four lanes with a continuous left-turn lane between the Waller County line and FM 1774 in Magnolia.


Update: The project was 68% complete as of Sept. 1. The cost of construction increased from $30.33 million in August.

3. FM 1488 raised median

Project:
A TxDOT project has begun in Magnolia to add a raised median on FM 1488 between Mostyn Drive and I-45.

Update: After months of delays, the project was 9% complete as of Sept. 1 and under construction by contractor ISI Contracting Inc.
