As October begins, a number of activities, community events and public meetings are scheduled in Tomball and Magnolia this week. A recovery fair is also scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7, in Houston to provide assistance to residents affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Tomball ISD residents can chat with TISD Superintendent Martha Salazar-Zamora to learn about what is happening in the district. Guests can choose to attend Monday or Tuesday. Lone Star College-Tomball’s Advising and Counseling department hosts its annual
college fair for high school students, parents and currently enrolled college students to learn about four-year institutions. Hosted in the Beckendorf Conference Center, college and university representatives from over 50 institutions will discuss admission requirements, program offerings, career path opportunities and other information. The Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management hosts a
Hurricane Harvey Recovery Fair from 6-8 p.m. Representatives from Harris County, the city of Houston, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Small Business Administration will be present to provide information about disaster assistance to residents affected by Harvey.
