Diving in deeper
The proposed increase in spending on salaries and wages comes as Tomball City Council received a presentation on the results of a classification and compensation study at its Aug. 21 budget workshop meeting.
According to a presentation by Payoint HR, the study recommended:
- A new salary scale with minimum wage starting at $15
- Raising the salary of 53 positions that are below the new scale minimums or experiencing compression
- Raising the salary of eight positions that are substantially below market
- Raising the salary of 14 positions that are below market
Notable quote
“The [$266,000 of salary survey adjustments] is taken into account after the 3% COLA,” Esquivel said.
