In a statement regarding the Nov. 5 election results, Magnolia Superintendent Jason Bullock said, "Although the VATRE did not pass, MISD remains committed to finding ways to pay competitive salaries and making decisions in the best interests of students and staff. We will continue to do this with fiscal responsibility as our goal and with an eye toward overcoming the financial challenges facing public schools in Texas."

Voters have voted against the Magnolia ISD VATRE, which could have generated $7.4 million in revenue, according to the unofficial results of Montgomery County.

Unofficial results show voters have voted against the Magnolia ISD VATRE in Montgomery County, with 81 Election Day precincts reporting out of 113 in Montgomery County.

Early results show voters have opposed Magnolia ISD's Proposition A, a voter-approval tax rate election, according to unofficial Montgomery County results.

School board trustees approved a tax rate of $0.9895 per $100 valuation. However, if the community rejects the VATRE, the tax rate would be $0.9595 per $100 valuation.


All results are unofficial until canvassed.

The background

Magnolia ISD has been discussing the option since the summer of 2024 and voted to have the election Aug. 26 as previously reported by Community Impact.

If approved, district officials said the VATRE would generate $7.4 million in additional funding that would go toward teacher raises, additional pay for staff through a loyalty program, and increasing pay and positions for school resource officers.
