Early voting in Montgomery County shows favor for Montgomery ISD's voter-approval tax rate election, according to unofficial Montgomery County results.

The major takeaways

Unofficial results show 13,518 of voters are for the VATRE, while 12,893 are against the election.

The background

MISD has been discussing the option of holding a VATRE since the summer and voted to have the election at an Aug. 19 meeting, as previously reported by Community Impact.

If approved, the $0.05 per $100 valuation increase in the tax rate could generate $5.5 million annually in additional revenue for MISD as the district faces a nearly $4.3 million budget shortfall for fiscal year 2024-25, officials said.
