Incumbent Cecil Bell Jr. has won the Republican primary election for the Texas House District 3 race.

With all 111 precincts reporting in Montgomery County, Bell garnered 67.18% of the votes, or 14,000 votes, while challenger Kelly McDonald received 32.82% of the votes, or 6,840 votes.


Bell has represented House District 3, which includes parts of Montgomery County, since 2013. A general contractor and rancher, Bell sits on multiple House committees, including the Committee on International Relations and Economic Development, according to the Texas House website.

With 107 of 111 election day precincts reporting, incumbent Cecil Bell Jr. remains in the lead for the Texas House District 3 Republican race. Bell has 67.18% of the votes, or 14,000 votes, while fellow Republican Kelly McDonald has 32.82% of the votes, or 6,840 votes.

Early voting results from Montgomery County show incumbent Cecil Bell Jr. taking an early lead against Kelly McDonald in the race for Texas House District 3 in the March 1 Republican primary election. Bell received 69.02%, or 8,312 votes.


As previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper, two Republican candidates are running to be the representative of Texas House District 3, which includes parts of Montgomery county. Early voting results include absentee votes.
