Candidate filing for the May 7 general election closed Feb. 18, and two Magnolia City Council races are contested. Incumbent Todd Kana is the sole candidate running for mayor as of publication.
According to the Texas secretary of state's office, early voting will take place April 25-May 3. The last day to register to vote in the election is April 7.
Council positions 4 and 5 are on the ballot. Position 4 is held by Brenda Hoppe, while Position 5 is held by Jack Lee Huitt Jr.
Hoppe and Frank M. Parker III have filed to run for Position 4, according to candidate filing information from the city.
Huitt Jr. and Cathy Yowell have filed to run for Position 5, according to city information.
