April 1 is the last day to register to vote in the upcoming May 1 election, according to a March 30 news release from the office of Isabel Longoria, Harris County elections administrator.

Eligible voters residing in areas participating in May elections this year can access registration forms at any Harris County public library and at the Harris County Clerk's Office located at 1001 Preston St., Houston. Forms can also be printed from online.

Completed voter registration forms sent by mail must be postmarked by April 1 to be accepted, the release said. Eligible voters who have moved to a new address within the same county or changed their name can also update that information here.

According to the release, 2,438,556 voters are registered to vote in Harris County. There is a total 382,598 voters eligible to vote in the May 1 election.
