As previously reported by Community Impact, Tomball West High School is the latest campus constructed by TISD. The campus is scheduled to open next semester in August 2026.
According to a news release, James Williams brings nearly three decades of coaching experience. His previous position was as head football coach and campus athletic coordinator at Thurgood Marshall High School in Fort Bend ISD. He served the campus for 16 years, and brought the team to their most successful era in the program's history.

Kevin Williams, the current principal of Tomball West High School, spoke highly of James Williams, celebrating his knowledge and culture-setting standards.
“Coach Williams is an established program builder and proven winner whose leadership, vision and commitment to developing students make him the ideal choice to help shape the gold standard identity of Tomball West athletics,” Kevin Williams said in a statement.
Keep in mind
Tomball West High School will initially serve ninth and tenth graders in its inaugural year, and its athletic programs are projected to compete at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) 4A classification. All sports will compete at the varsity level with the exception of football during the 2026-27 school year.
