A Tomball ISD principal has been chosen to lead the district’s new elementary school once it opens in August, according to a Jan. 11 TISD news release.

Tomball Elementary School Principal Chad Schmidt will become the principal of West Elementary School—the district’s 12th elementary school—when it opens for the 2024-25 school year, according to the release.

“It is so exciting to be able to establish the traditions, structures and expectations for a campus to then start a culture of excellence and learning,” Schmidt said in a statement. “What an amazing honor to be able to help begin writing the history of excellence at West Elementary.”

The Juergen Road complex, which will house West Elementary, West Intermediate and West High schools, is part of TISD’s 2021 bond. The district broke ground on the property last October.

According to the release, Schmidt’s career experience includes:
  • 26 years in education working as a campus principal, assistant principal and teacher
  • Seven years at TISD and as the Tomball Elementary principal
  • 13 total years working as a campus principal
“West Elementary will be a collaborative culture focused on high levels of learning for each and every student,” Schmidt said in a statement. “Together, we will work to build strong parent and community partnerships to positively enhance every student’s experience.”
