Tomball ISD’s elementary, intermediate and high school campuses at the Juergen Road complex will be named West Elementary, West Intermediate and Tomball West High School following unanimous approvals by the school board members at its Nov. 15 meeting.

During discussion, Trustee Michael Pratt said the district launched a ThoughtExchange in August to get the public’s input on the names.

“The No. 1 most positively rated suggestion in the exchange based on what was 97,488 ratings was West,” Pratt said. “And the feedback on a scale of 5 was, [the] highest was a 3.8. And the feedback was West is straightforward, simple; it’s on the western edge of the district.”

The district broke ground on the 205-acre complex in early October, with construction aiming to begin around spring 2023, Community Impact previously reported.

Bond 2021 funds will be used to build the campuses, with $32.55 million for the elementary school, $39.74 million for the intermediate school and $195.59 million for the high school, Community Impact previously reported.

The elementary and intermediate schools are anticipated to open in August 2024, and the high school is anticipated to open in August 2026.
