Tomball ISD renews superintendent’s contract, ups pay 3.5%

The Tomball ISD board of trustees unanimously approved extending Superintendent Martha Salazar-Zamora’s contract to a four-year term in effect from July 1, 2019, to June 30, 2023, during an Aug. 13 board of trustees meeting. Trustee Justin Unser and Salazar-Zamora were absent from Tuesday’s meeting.

In addition to the contract extension, the board approved an increase in the superintendent’s salary Aug. 13, raising Salazar-Zamora’s annual base salary by 3.5% to $253,575, trustee John McStravick said during the meeting. Salazar-Zamora’s base salary was $245,000 for the 2018-19 school year and $215,000 for the 2017-18 school year, according to Texas Education Agency data.

Salazar-Zamora began her role as superintendent in April 2017 after the retirement of former Superintendent Huey Kinchen. She previously served as chief academic officer for TISD.
