The details
Former Houston Police Department officer Kaplan said she founded The Shabby Heart in 2016 as an online boutique offering clothing and accessories. After retiring as an HPD officer, she said decided to follow her passion for fashion with a brick-and-mortar store for her boutique.
“I actually am a retired HPD officer. I did that for 30 years, and I always had a passion for having a boutique,” she said. “I studied a little bit of fashion merchandising before I was actually an officer, and then went to a whole different line of work. And this is something I always wanted to do.”What they offer
The Shabby Heart offers a hand-picked selection of women's clothing ranging from small to 3X as well as children's clothing sourced from small business vendors. Other items offered include Italian leather bags, jewelry, shoes, lotions and hygiene products for men.
Through the boutique, Kaplan said she carries items from four to five vendors to offer unique pieces for every size and every style.
