A number of new eateries and stores are coming soon to the Tomball and Magnolia areas. Coming Soon Texas-based grocer H-E-B will open August 24 at 7988 FM 1488, Magnolia. The first Magnolia location will include an in-store restaurant called True Texas BBQ, the first of its kind in Houston, said H-E-B Unit Director Gary Hefner. “It’ll be our first True Texas BBQ in Houston and it is a traditional restaurant,” he said. “We’ll have a smoker that we smoke meats for 12-24 hours and a full barbecue menu. [The restaurant] will also have Texas beers on tap—only local brews. The store will also feature a healthy living department, expansive deli, bakery and produce sections and a H-E-B Blooms department with products from local growers including Spring Creek Growers, Magnolia Garden and Conroe Greenhouse, according to the company website. “Progress has been on-target to get us to the finish line,” Hefner said. “We’re just excited about opening our first store in Magnolia.” Just down FM 1488, Ron’s Hamburger & Chili is expected to open a Magnolia location at 18415 FM 1488 in the former location of the First Victoria Bank this winter. The restaurant has locations in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas and offers a selection of hamburgers, housemade chili, frito pies and sides. Spring Creek Barbeque will open its eleventh location in the Greater Houston area in early September along Hwy. 249 near Rodgers Road. The Texas-based restaurant chain serves lunch and dinner specials, homestyle sides, salads, sandwiches and desserts. www.springcreekbarbeque.com Renovations Tomball’s Chick-fil-A location at 14314 FM 2920 will undergo renovations beginning Sept. 1 to increase kitchen space and renovate the existing children’s play area. Marketing Director Valerie Brantley said the location will be closed during the month of September while construction is underway. She said she anticipates the store reopening on Oct. 6. “The [project] will give us a larger kitchen with new more equipment so we’ll be able to serve our guests faster,” Brantley said. She said customers are encouraged to check for updates on the location’s Facebook page for updates while the renovation is underway. Fast-food chain McDonald’s is also undergoing renovations at 1406 W. Main St., Tomball. The rebuild project is expected to take four months.
