The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, demonstrations by local pickleball instructors, information about programs, play opportunities and concessions.
According to a news release from The Woodlands Township, its Parks and Recreation Department has invested $650,000 in eight pickleball courts at Falconwing Park.
“The Woodlands Township prides itself on staying at the forefront of available amenities and services offered for our residents,” said Ann K. Snyder, chair of the township's board of directors, in the news release. “In response to the growing demand and increased need for pickleball courts in The Woodlands, the board of directors is pleased to open the courts to the community.”
In addition to the new courts, there are 19 tennis courts in The Woodlands with pickleball overlays and five courts at the Bear Branch Park outdoor multiuse sports court, according to information from the township, for a total of 51 courts for pickleball play.
