Officials with The Hub Garage, a nonprofit dedicated to repairing cars for single moms in need, announced in a news release June 9 they will be going on tour to seven states, including two stops in The Woodlands area.
The "Driving Hope for Her" tour is a partnership with Christian Brothers Automotive that brings a colorful car made entirely out of coffee cups to different locations in the United States to promote awareness and bring in new donations for The Hub Garage.
According to the website, the car is made entirely out of coffee cups to remind us how our spare change, spent on daily activities like a cup of coffee, could change a single mom's life.
The Cup Car will stop at two Christian Brothers locations in The Woodlands area this summer, including the 4460 Panther Creek Pines location from July 6-13 and the 6872 FM 1488 location in Magnolia from July 14-21.
Tami Barton, operations director of both Christian Brothers Automotive locations in The Woodlands, said the event is one way the business is trying to give back to single moms in the area.
"This is just something that is in the heart of the Christian Brothers and local shops," she said. "We've all known single moms or been in a family with single moms. This mission goes into the heart of who we are."
Barton said during the tour, anybody who donates $15 toward The Hub Garage will receive $25 off their bill at either Christian Brothers locations during July.
