The Woodlands Arts Council and The Woodlands Township are collaborating on a project to bring public art installations to the township's trolley shelters.

The project will include installations created by professional artists to bring digitally printed glass art panels to up to eight shelters.
As part of the process, businesses, foundations and individuals are being asked to underwrite individual shelters, and they will receive permanent recognition at their sponsored location.
"Art has the power to transform how people experience a place," said Haley Garcia, president of The Woodlands Arts Council. "This project brings original public art into everyday life while giving businesses and community members the opportunity to help shape the future of The Woodlands' cultural landscape. Together with our community partners, we're continuing to make art an everyday part of life in The Woodlands."

The shelters will showcase original artwork printed directly onto durable laminated glass and are intended to create a unique experience for residents and visitors who travel through The Woodlands Waterway and Town Center on the trolleys each year, according to a news release.
The project expands The Woodlands' nationally recognized public art collection while supporting TWAC's mission to enrich the community through the arts. Other public art projects The Woodlands Arts Council has worked to bring to the community include art benches and bike racks.
Underwriting opportunities are also available for organizations and individuals who wish to invest in the trolley shelter project. Funds raised will support the fabrication and installation of the artwork.
