Quartermaster Everett Ison said the club, which meets at South County Community Center at 2235 Lake Robbins Drive, The Woodlands, has been strained since members were not able to gather due to COVID-19 restrictions.
“We saw spikes in anxiety, people having issues with making ends meet,” he said.
Throughout veterans organizations, the effects of bar shutdowns were felt in 2020 because bars are a significant revenue generator for them. The Woodlands’ post does not have a building of its own, so while revenue lost from canteen sales was not an issue locally, the post lost revenue usually generated from its annual fundraisers.
As of mid-October, it did not have a venue lined up for the next year’s fundraising, which includes events such as a banjo and magic show.
The post is seeking information on any local spaces available that would be suitable and available for the fundraising event. Information and contacts for the post can be found at www.vfw12024.org.
