Here are 5 things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands area.

1. The Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas North American Championship returns to The Woodlands on Saturday, bringing with it an influx of visitors and road closures. Several roads in the community will be closed or experience delays between 7 a.m.-11 p.m. throughout the duration of the event. 2. The Conroe ISD board of trustees will provide information on the selection of a campus mascot and school colors for Grand Oaks High School and Lucille J. Bradley Elementary School during its regular meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The two newest schools in the district are set to open in fall 2017 and fall 2018, respectively, at 4200 Falls Lake Drive, Spring, and 4800 Riley Fuzzel Road, Spring. 3. The Woodlands Township will again discuss the potential appointment of a director to serve on The Woodlands Road Utility District No. 1 during a board of directors meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday. The WRUD is a special-purpose district created in 1991 to construct and fund major thoroughfares and collector streets in The Woodlands. Earlier this year, the township board declined to appoint a representative to the WRUD board to fill the township’s unexpired term. Any appointee selected would serve from May 2017 through May 2019.

4. The Voter Awareness Council will host a forum with the candidates running for places on the Shenandoah City Council at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the City Council chambers. Residents who attend will have the opportunity to submit questions prior to the start of the event on index cards. The forum will be moderated by Community Impact Newspaper.
