Community EventsHere are 4 things to know this week if you live in The Woodlands area. 1. The Woodlands Marathon takes place this Saturday along several major thoroughfares in the community, including portions of Lake Woodlands Drive, Grogans Mill Road and Lake Woodlands Drive. Only residential traffic is recommended through and around the race course area between 6:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. More details can be found regarding lane travel practices and the race map at www.thewoodlandsmarathon.com. 2. Last week, four bills were filed in the Texas Legislature on behalf of The Woodlands Township relating to the incorporation process. Current state law does not provide statutory language for incorporation of an area with a population the size of The Woodlands. Therefore, the legislation was introduced to clarify the existing statutes and create a smoother path to transition into a city if voters elect to move in that direction in the future. The Woodlands has until 2057 to incorporate before it is at risk for being annexed by the cities of Houston and Conroe. 3. The opening of the first Chobani Cafe outside New York has been delayed until March. The new location was set to open Feb. 28 inside the new Wal-Mart just outside the Village of Creekside Park at 25800 Kuykendahl Road, Tomball. The 2,000-square-foot cafe will offer Mediterranean-centric dishes. 4. There is one week left until the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo kicks off this year. Tickets are still available to numerous concerts and events. For more details on food, concerts, rodeo events, parking and more, see Community Impact Newspaper's rodeo guide.
