Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft Corp. said June 26 it would be closing all of its physical Microsoft Store locations as part of a strategic retail operations change.

The Microsoft Store at The Woodlands Mall, located at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive, Ste. 1204, The Woodlands, is included in the companywide closure.

“Our sales have grown online as our product portfolio has evolved to largely digital offerings, and our talented team has proven success serving customers beyond any physical location,” said David Porter, Microsoft corporate vice president, in a statement. “We are grateful to our Microsoft Store customers and we look forward to continuing to serve them online and with our retail sales team at Microsoft corporate locations.”

Following the store closures, Microsoft employees will continue to offer sales, support and training remotely and at corporate offices, the company said. Microsoft's Experience Centers in New York, London, Sydney and Redmond will also remain open.

Microsoft retail locations had been shuttered since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the company said its retail staff had been working on virtual initiatives since then. The company said it will continue offering retail services through its online storefronts on its website and through Xbox and Windows platforms. www.microsoft.com
