Nearly two months after it closed amid coronavirus shutdown orders March 22, The Woodlands Resort announced this week it will reopen May 20.

The resort stated in a news release it has begun taking reservations for its 96 rooms and will have several amenities open to the public, including its pool complex, lazy river, cafe, jogging trails and golf courses.

Facility management said the reopened facility will follow Gov. Greg Abbott’s requirements for social distancing, enhanced cleaning and sanitation.

“Safety and health continue to be our highest priorities, and the resort team has been fully versed in new protocols for the protection of guests and themselves,” said Scott Spann, vice president of hospitality with Howard Hughes Corp., which owns the facility through its hospitality division.

Among other changes, valet parking is suspended temporarily, and access to the fitness center is unavailable. In addition, the game room, transportation to area shopping, in-room dining and several other dining options are not available.

Personal protective equipment, such as masks and gloves, are required for employees and temperature checks are conducted on staff prior to shifts, according to the release. Hand sanitizer will be available at many entrances and contact areas, according to the release. 281-367-1100. www.woodlandsresort.com
