Aside from the facility’s community garden and baseball fields, Alden Bridge Sports Park will be completely closed during construction, McGowan said.

McGowan said the township will work with groups that use the fields to accommodate needs until the renovations are complete.

“The township is continually growing, and we’re in need of more and more facilities and leisure,” said Simon Boddison, director of soccer operations for HTX Soccer, a youth soccer program that uses the fields. "Naturally there’s going to be some challenges for spring and fall of 2026, but we’ve been here for 25 years and we’ve been a great partner with the township, so it’s about having a productive dialogue and having things planned ahead well in advance, and making sure we can organize our program to fit the needs of our members."

Phase 1 of the project does not include the installation of an all-weather turf on the softball and baseball fields or additional parking along the western edge of the park, which were also discussed as needs, McGowan said.
