Oak Ridge North City Council members approved $153,737 on March 10 to help fund repairs for the Southern Montgomery County Municipal Utility District's wastewater treatment plant.

The details

Council members approved the partial funding for project, which is part of the SMC MUD's 2024-34 capital improvement plan, to help repair the main sewer trunk line for the wastewater treatment plant located off Rayford Road. According to the plan, the total cost of the project is $1 million, and it will be funded in a joint effort between the city and Conroe ISD.

The total cost of the trunk line repair that the city will pay is $307,474; however, the city approved paying half the amount March 10 and will pay the remaining balance once construction is completed, City Manager Heather Neeley said.

What else?

The city approved a $15,000 expenditure to Mickie Service Company for an emergency repair due to a fire hydrant break on East Lana Road and Harlan Road. The fire hydrant was broken due to work performed by the city, but it caused additional damage to the street because the water line was broken, officials said.

"This is a emergency repairing of the fire hydrant and the line that ran all the way down the street. So due to having to rip up the whole street all the way across, [the public works department] went ahead and outsourced this," Public Works Director James Corn said.
